There is a great need for the introduction of new values in our society, where bigger is not necessarily better, where slower can be faster, and where less can be more. – Gaylord Nelson

Climate change threatens every part of the planet. It’s a global problem that requires our cooperation.

A bit of our history…

The Green Office Movement was founded in 2010 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and has grown to a country-spanning initiative currently containing over 40 Green Offices, 65+ Green Office initiatives, and at least 11 partner organizations who support the movement. This has led to more than 500 projects on sustainability being initiated every year. Higher education institutions have a direct ad important impact on society and our future as they are educating the leaders of tomorrow.

The Eleanor Green Office enjoys the support of the larger Green Office network, and tries to expand that network at UCR, in Middelburg, and throughout Zeeland. We are using our creativity and people power to educate, shape opportunities, and push for change to bring forth sustainable and regenerative lifestyles within the UCR community and beyond. The Office organizes clothing exchanges, guest lectures, and workshops, among other things, to emphasize the need for change, and to provide concrete examples and possibilities for those looking to pursue a more sustainable lifestyle. Furthermore, we encourage students to do their own projects and support their initiatives in whichever way is needed. Within the university’s governing structures, the Green Office aims to fulfil an advisory position. The Eleanor Green Office is a linking and initiating actor, open to any collaboration and project that furthers sustainability within the community. Great emphasis is put on inclusivity and plurality, and tapping into this to tackle sustainability will create an atmosphere of innovation and change, toward a greener future.

Come back soon for the Spring 2024 semester events calendar!!
