Our Team

Chair - Lara (she/they)

Hi, I’m Lara and I’m the Chair of the Eleanor Green Office! Growing up I have always been super passionate about nature and I started to put that energy into working with many different organisations with a focus on sustainability. So I couldn’t wait to continue putting effort into what I stand for at UCR. I’m so excited to work with the other board members in creating a green environment with a fun approach.

Volunteer Manager- Astarte (she/her)

Hi, everybody! I'm Astarte. I'm a she/her, third/fourth semester majoring in Chemistry. Feel free to ask me about tryptamines, lysergamides or arylcyclohexylamines if you're bored. My two main responsibilities in the GO are to manage the Anne garden, quite fitting considering I grew up on an olive orchard; and to send the weekly Newsletter, for which I profusely apologise.

Treasurer - Kaisa(she/her)

Heyy, I’m Kaisa, the green office’s new treasurer. I have always been passionate about making the world a more sustainable and green place, and am honored to be able to pursuit this passion at ucr. I am super excited to be working with this new board to make ucr more green and happy with cool projects and fun events :)

Event Manager - Sofia (she/her)

Hello everyone! My name is Sofia (she/her) and I am the event manager for the Green Office this year! I decided to join this amazing board because I want to encourage people to help each other. Let me explain. I attended one of my first climate demonstrations, and I remember an old man with a grumpy voice screaming through a bullhorn, "The earth is going to save itself - it always has. It is humans that need saving." Even though it might sound a bit harsh, it got me thinking. It is human beings, after all, who need to learn to respect what they have. That is what I hope to achieve this year, to encourage our community to respect and protect our planet, together, and for each other!

Social Media Manager - Sara (she/her)

Hii!! My name is Sara (she/her) and I'm the social media manager. I'm a third year pre med student but apart from my passion for science I've always enjoyed spending time in nature and being involved in activism. While growing up on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, I started to realise the negative human impact on the environment by seeing all the pollution on our beaches and the rising sea levels that caused floods in nearby neighbourhoods. This made me want to do something to change that, so ever since I've been learning about environmentalism while cleaning up our beaches and going to climate change protests. During my time in the Eleanor Green Office I hope to bring positive change to our lovely community for the enjoyment of all our members.

Academic Manager - David(he/him)

Hey! I’m David and I’m going to be the academic manager for the green office this year! Basically, my job is to work with the UCR executives towards systemic change in how we approach sustainability as a university. I’m a big nature person and have been vegan for coming on four years.

I’m really excited to see what change we can make and you can always stop me around Middelburg if you have any ideas :)

Some fun facts about me are that I love public education, trains, and UCR!
