Activism

The new IPCC report (August 2021) tells us that we will have reached a global temperature increase of 1.5°C compared to preindustrial times by 2030. Scary! To prevent this, or even something worse, we have been told that we must change our personal behavior to save the planet. But the truth is, this rhetoric was created by fossil fuel companies to reflect their fault onto us, the consumers. In fact, the “Carbon Footprint Calculator” Was created by British Petroleum.
What we need is overarching, politically led, systemic change. And while we, as individuals, can do little to achieve such change, together we have enough power to convince our political representatives to take the necessary steps! Therefore, we, the Eleanor Green Office, support local activism by helping to organize demonstrations and sharing information about upcoming demonstrations, etc. on all our channels. In March 2021 we helped organize the Klimaatalarm in Middelburg and in June other activists and we dropped a banner at Yara Sluiskil a fertilizer factory. We also created a Facebook group called Zeeland Klimaatactivisten. Please join this group if you want to connect to local activists.
If you want to become a climate activist, feel free to reach out to us. We can help you find an organization or movement to join, organize panels and debates or even initiate and organize your own protest.
